That's right! Well, at least not the kind who lingers at street corners, quietly observing the subtle choreography of strangers. Growing up in Knokke-Heist along Belgium’s polished coast, I was surrounded by images: the muted tones of the North Sea, the clean geometry of seaside apartments. But I never felt the urge to capture them. For a long time, simply looking was enough.
My path shifted when I moved to Dorset, England. Drawn there as a surfer exploring the Jurassic Coast, I began filming the landscape. I taught myself through online tutorials, and before long, I started a small video production company. Eventually, I picked up a DSLR, which opened the door to photography. I experimented widely—landscapes, portraits, architecture—while continuing corporate work, but something still felt unresolved.
In 2014, I took a course at the London School of Photography, and it proved decisive. It was there that I discovered street photography—where observation and spontaneity meet. The transition wasn’t immediate, but over time it became clear that this was where my focus belonged. By 2020, it had become my primary direction.
Since then, I’ve been documenting the quiet poetry of daily life. Around the world but mainly in Bruges, Belgium where I live with my family.
